WHAT IS HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT?
Human resource management is the organizational
function that manages all of the issues related to the people in an
organization. That includes but is not limited to compensation, recruitment,
and hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness,
benefits, employee motivation, communication, policy administration, and
training.
Human Resource Management is a multidisciplinary function that depicts
assumptions from different fields such as management, psychology, sociology and
economics. An effective HRM attempts to get extraordinary results from ordinary
people. Besides hiring the right person for right job at right time, HRM is
also responsible for employee motivation, satisfaction, training, long term
development & retention.

THE MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS OF HRM
1. HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING
In this function of HRM, the number and type of employees needed to accomplish organizational goals are determined. Research is an important part of this function, information is collected and analyzed to identify current and future human resource needs and to forecast changing values, attitudes, and behavior of employees and their impact on the organization.
2. ORGANIZING
Organizing is the function of management that involves developing an organizational structure and allocating human resource to ensure the accomplishment of objectives. The structure of the organization is the framework within which effort is coordinated. The structure is usually represented by an organizational chart. which provides a graphic representation of the chain of command within an organization. Decisions made about the structure of an organization are generally referred to as organizational design decisions.
3. DIRECTING
Activating employees at different levels and making them contribute maximum to the organization is possible through proper direction and motivation. Taping the maximum potential of the employees is possible through motivation and command.
4. CONTROLLING
After planning, organizing, and directing, employees'
actual performance is checked, verified, and compared with the plans. If the
actual performance is found to deviate from the plan, control measures are
required to be taken.
THE OPERATIVE FUNCTIOND OF HR
1. RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
Recruitment and selection in HRM is a process by which the company generates a set of qualified and preferred job searchers for the future human resources needed in the organization even while particular openings do not exists in the business. It is the process that links job candidates and employers.
2. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
One of the most crucial HRM duties in every firm is training and development. The goal of this trainings is to improve employees' abilities, behaviors , and expertise by explaining them to new working methods. Employees training and development aids in upgrading employees' Knowledge and abilities for carrying out a job, which ultimately increases their work efficiency and boosts an organization's output.

Without human resources management, companies would not be able to effectively recruit and retain employees, improve and enhance the organization, and they wouldn't be able to maintain a healthy, accepting workplace culture and environment.
